An e-commerce store the client’s own team could run.

Power Pack Pakistan sells batteries. The hard part was never the storefront — it was building a catalogue and admin flow that non-technical staff could operate every day without breaking anything.

Overview

Power Pack Pakistan is a battery retailer that had been selling entirely offline. Moving online meant more than putting products on a page — it meant giving their staff a system they could run without a developer sitting behind them.

WooCommerce was the right call here precisely because a custom platform would have been the wrong one. The client needed something familiar, well-documented and easy to hire help for later.

The challenge

  • Batteries are bought by specification, not by browsing — the catalogue had to reflect how customers actually search.
  • Most shoppers in this market arrive on mid-range Android phones over mobile data, so weight and load time were critical.
  • Stock accuracy matters. Selling a battery that isn't in the warehouse costs a customer, not just a refund.
  • The admin panel had to be usable by staff with no technical background.

What I built

  • Custom WooCommerce theme — built for this store rather than a purchased template stripped back.
  • Structured product catalogue — categories and attributes organised around specification-led browsing.
  • Secure checkout — a short, mobile-friendly flow with payment gateway integration.
  • Inventory management — stock levels, low-stock visibility and order handling in one place.
  • Performance work — image compression, caching and script cleanup targeting fast loads on mobile data.
A store that only the developer can update isn’t finished — it’s just dependent.

Technical approach

Rather than installing a plugin for every requirement, I built the theme to handle the store's specific needs directly. Fewer plugins means fewer update conflicts, a smaller attack surface and noticeably faster admin pages — which matters when staff are adding products all day.

The checkout was deliberately kept short. Every additional field on a mobile checkout costs conversions, so the flow asks only for what's needed to fulfil and deliver the order.

Handover

The engagement ran from March 2024 to February 2026, ending with a proper handover: documentation, admin training, and a team that can add products, adjust stock and process orders on their own. That was always the point.
